“When your desires are strong enough, you will appear to possess superhuman powers to achieve.”

Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.”
                                    — Napoleon Hill

What a powerful quote …

Patrick Riddle here to talk about desire. (NO! Not that kind, get your mind outta the gutter back into REI.)

I mean desire and passion and motivation for you to crush your goals and reach the success you want.

I’m kind of on this Napoleon Hill kick. He’s the author of “Think & Grow Rich.” Today, I’ve got more from the genius that Hill is, about turning your REI endeavors into gold.

See, more people attribute their financial success to Hill‘s classic book than any other book in the history of the world! That alone should be enough to get the point across to any serious investor — newbie or seasoned.

After interviewing over 500 of the wealthiest men of his time and more than 20 years later, Hill crystallized the science of personal achievement — he noted:

“When your desires are strong enough, you will appear to possess superhuman powers to achieve.”

That pretty much sums it up, but I want to dive a little deeper…

So, as you can probably tell from my Daily Dose of Awesome emails recently, I’ve rereading the book again — it’s probably my 6th time. Maybe 7th. And it still amazes me.

I’ve also listened to the abridged and unabridged audio versions countless times, too. But just reading or listening to the book is not enough.

You must follow his advice and take the practical steps outlined to achieve the results. As I was writing out my definite chief aim again, I thought it would be helpful to share his “Six Ways to Turn Desires into Gold,” taken directly from his book:

1st: Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficient merely to say, “I want plenty of money.” Be definite as to the amount. (There is a psychological reason for definiteness which will be described in a subsequent chapter.)

2nd: Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. (There is no such reality as “something for nothing.”)

3rd: Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.

4th: Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.

5th: Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.

6th: Read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. As you read — see and feel and believe yourself already in possession of the money.

Then… several paragraphs later Hill writes:

You can never have riches in great quantities unless you can work yourself into a white heat of desire for money, and actually believe you will possess it.”

And…

“More gold has been mined from the thoughts of men than has been taken from the earth.”

So, real estate investor or not, this is extremely powerful advice

In life, you decide who to listen to. Anyone who has studied hundreds of successful men and women and was commissioned by one of the wealthiest men in America to do so has my attention.

How about yours?

“There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to possess it.”
        — Napoleon Hill

Get to your gold!
