Can’t get over the hump? Looking to boost your productivity, and earn more income for your real estate business?
Peter Vekselman here, and I’ve got some powerful thoughts that’ll hopefully get your mind in a good, healthy spot… so you can crush your week.
See, I often find myself having conversations with investors who are in a rut. They’re in a place where they’re not achieving a level a success they want — they’re capable of it but stuck and can’t get past a roadblock, and obstacle, a hump (whatever you want to call it).
To be clear, we’ve all been there. Me included.
And if that describes you now, I’m hitting you with 3 ideas — advice, really — that I often share to help people move forward, past whatever it is that they’re struggling with.
They are:
- Take radical responsibility and full ownership of your life, your circumstances and your trajectory.
- Get a whatever-it-takes attitude.
- Do something, even if you’re not sure what to do.
Ok, let’s look briefly look at each one.
#1. Take radical responsibility and full ownership of your life, your circumstances and your trajectory.
Your ability to figure out who’s in charge of your life will many times determine your destiny. Who’s in charge of your:
- job
- business
- parents
- kids
- circumstances
I shouldn’t have to tell you that the answer is you. And the more you put other people in charge of those things or relinquish responsibility… the less chance you’ll ever be successful.
When you’re thinking about who’s in charge, point right back at yourself.
You are in charge of all aspects of your life.
#2. Get a whatever-it-takes attitude.
If you want to be successful, it’s absolutely critical, to have a whatever-it-takes attitude.
See, when I got started 20+ years ago — I was so broke and couldn’t afford marketing, couldn’t afford sophisticated ways of finding deals.
So, I’d go to Walmart and buy a sign for $2 and write: “Interested in selling your house?” And I’d put those signs out all over Atlanta.
Back then it was: whatever it takes. And to this day, it still is: whatever it takes. It’s got to be done. So get ‘er done.
#3. Do something, even if you’re not sure what to do.
So, one thing I learned over many years is that success never happens by accident.
I’ve never met anybody who just woke up one day and said, “Wow, I’m wildly successful!”
Success takes a series of steps, determination, perseverance.
You might say, “Well, I don’t know what to do.”
To that I say: I’d rather you do something even if it’s not the right thing. Just the act of doing something teaches your body that, ultimately, you’ve got to perform to be successful.
“Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction.”
– Harry Truman.
